Hi..I've got 3 origins. 2 B2 and 1 B2 solo. Had them for about 2.5 years.
The b2 ( and b2 solo, same thing different cradle) are fine (only 2 misses in the time I've had them), but they are getting really old hat now and are expensive next to the competition. Sat fix time can be a while, but once they're running they are really accurate.
I junked the b2 cradle in favour of the b2 set up (more complicated but more stealthy) given their ability to link up to a radar detector and jammer.
I'm going to dump the lot in favour of SpeedCheetah's ActiveStealth when it comes out as that uses bluetoothed Sirf Star III to your PDA or phone and has bluetooth fire control over your 3rd party jammers and detectors.
(I take it you the NuttyNurse, a DriveSmart refugee;-)
There are lots of nice GPS camera detectors out there now, but if you want a combined effort, I think Cheetah is the way to go. (I've nothing to do with them, but the concept is what I want)

Hi nomadros,
Yes, if me the nuttynurse of the now defunct DS forum, now a born again, PocketWorld devotee. Thanks for your reply. I came across the B2 Solo being sold on Ebay for around £165 but wasn't to sure how reliable it was and how well the databases were updated.
SpeedCheetah's ActiveStealth. Must admit I haven't heard of this one until now. Do I take it that this is a database medium? as you describe it being used with a mobile or pda. Not sure about "fire control" what that means. Can you recommend a website that I can go to that will tell me more?
Still can't make up my mind about a combined unit or two independent ones, hence why I looked at the B2 Solo, Saphire etc. I do however like the idea of a system that gives you the speed limit and warns you when you go above it.
I too miss having the edit button on this forum, given my minds tendency to think one thing whilst writing another. Either that or to much red wine. Hic.

If you're buying off ebay, then a couple of things to watch out for...
1) make sure it's a second hand unit and that it was bought from an Origin approved site as this'll ensure the guarantee, if it's less than 2 years old and that it's not nicked.
2) If it's not a second hand unit and the guy doesn't have an origin reseller number, you only get 28 days guarantee and I have had build issues in the past which origin sort out quickly.
On the 2 times when the origin failed to warn me, one was a mobile gatso and one was a Specs start camera, so not too bad overall.
The tie in with laser and radar heads is good, but the heads are Whistler Pros. The radar head is huge, but that goes under the bonnet. The laser head is a stupid thumb sized thing that I've got low down on the windscreen. (You can get a different exterior laser head direct from whistler though). The jammer interface is really old hat now (LRC 100, target whatever and Lidatek who seem to have gone bust).
Apart from all that, the origin is fine although I don't like the solo cradle stuck on my dash as any cops behind me can see the thing flashing.
The ActiveStealth thing from Cheetah isn't out yet, but it's something I've been asking Origin for years now and they never did anything about it, but basically as I understand it....you get GPS fixed camera coverage via bluetoothed sirf star to your smart phone +++ any detector and jammer you have from most other companies, are bluetoothed to the GPS receiver, so you get one camera interface on your phone (nice stealth eh!) and the thing switches your detectors and jammers off and on depending on the speeed limit you're in. So say you're in a 70 and hit 71 it switches everything on and then then you go back to 70 it switches everything off (so no radar leakage or jammer firings below the PSL and fewer falses too).
BTW, sorry to hear about the DriveSmart fiasco but they always seems so full of it. I think the last straw was when the world found out that the new Laser Star was actually a reverse engineered LPP that they had been slagging off ten months ago!
Anyway good luck with the purchase, personally with all the new laws coming out I'd keep everything as stealthy as possible. I actually like the look of the snooper syrius, but I can't understand why the made the bit pointing at the copper CHROME! Talk about a target.

Not possible I am afraid, so please use the preview button.
If you are considering a pure GPS based Camera detection/ warning system rather than one running on a navigation device there are applications out there that work using a host PDA with GPS receiver, or can be used with mobile phones (PDA and Smart Phone based) with integral GPS units or external devices.
These only warn based on known locations and don't support laser warning, radar warning and most certainly do not provide a jamming capability - which is dubious in terms of the law - RADAR jamming is illegal, laser jamming might (at best) earn you a ticking off.
In use I find the GPS based speed camera warning software packages very accurate when they employ the database provided from this site - these software packages provide a viable alternative to the dedicated device - worth considering - Mike
