Hey everyone, its good to be here!
I've used your forum many times in the past to help me out and found all the answers I need. One thing I never did was register though, well finally got round to it
I'm kind of a newbie at the GPS technology side but i'm fine when it comes to setting up things like TomTom on devices such as PDA's and Smartphones.
I have a little question and I was wondering if someone coud help me out?
What I wanted to know is if I have 2 GPS devices, 1 USB to attach to my PC and 1 Bluetooth that I use with my phone would it be possible to use my PC to track the other GPS device on my phone.
I'm just curious as to whether these consumer devices can be tracked?

I have no idea. But I seem to remember someone talking about using GPS devices to do things like road charging and somebody else said it wouldn't work with the ones we're using because they are receivers, not transmitters. _________________ Dennis

With the correct type of phone you could use the phones GPRS data connection to transmit positional data. You would need some software on the phone for this to work, one such example (and its free) is Gloposis - I have still to try this though, so I don't know how effective it is in use. - Note to use this software requires a Pocket PC based phone, and as it uses the GPRS connection make sure you have a flat rate tariff or your phone cost will be very considerable., the Laptop would also require an active internet connection.
You can track the position remote using this type of software (there are other applications that do the same), but without the phone, GPRS, software and set-up it wouldn't work - Mike
