Maps with a Nuvi 610, do the come on a DVD?

If I was to buy a Nuvi 610, the v9 Europe maps are preinstalled, I understand. Do you also get a DVD with the maps on it to restore the maps if something goes wrong? Do you get two unlock codes with it too, just like buying CN as a stand alone? I'm just wondering if I could load the same maps on a GPSMap 60Cx using the second unlock code. If the Nuvi does not come with the maps on DVD, can I request a DVD from Garmin, or are they likely to refuse?

They will refuse. I have alreday tried this and the DVD only comes with the USA version.

The Nuvi 610 comes with UK & Ireland mapping preinstalled the Nuvi 660 comes with Western & Eastern Europe.

You don't need the dvd to restore the mapping if something goes wrong. If you back up the data from your nuvi to your pc you can reinstall it to your in the event of a crash.

You can normally unlock a second unit but I'm not sure if the GPSMap 60Cx uses the same NT version of mapping.

I bought a nuvi 300 which came preloaded with v.8 UK & Ireland mapping less than a year ago. I was thinking about buying stand alone mapping for Europe but didn't get that far. Garmin were particularly generous in the latest update and I now have Western & Eastern Europe on my pc and nuvi. Not sure if Garmin will be do the same next year but it might be worth the wait.

I had previously tried requesting a dvd from garmin but they didn't even bother replying.

As others have said, no DVD. Also, the newer SatNav units only come with a single unlock code, as opposed to the elder GPS units, which used to come with 2 unlock codes.

Garmin are not keen to send out DVDs, especially right now, as many v7 and v8 users are requesting the DVDs for map upgrades.
