sites like that are not usually very accurate hence we don't use them. we rely solely on where people tell us they have been seen.

this is the sort of site that i aim to clear from the database... |
I do understand your wish to make the database tidier and better value, and I will make a point this weekend of downloading POICapture now that I've stopped using my unstable PDA, but I totally agree with the previous poster who said he would prefer 100 false warnings to one missed real one.
Again, why can't we have the option of an unverfied category? _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

guzziando, you can submit updates, changes or new cameras on the same page as where you downloaded the database http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
At the bottom is a Google map. Find the camera on that (they don't show up in Firefox 1.5, use IE or Firefox 2), click on it, and the camera's ID number will be displayed just underneath the map. Put that number and any other details in the boxes in the yellow section above the map (select "change existing camera" in the top left box) and send it off! |

Thanks, but looking at the map, it is not there. It is on my latest camera data base, I do not want to put it in the wrong place. POI capture does not work since I upgraded to 6.560 firmware. I will change the speed when the map has been updated. Cheers |

It was there, but looks like it is one of the casualties of the removal of un-verified sites from the published database. It is not in the 25th January version.
If you want to re-submit it for verification, the details and co-ordinates are:
MOBILE:26832 52.18658 0.62441
Submit it in the normal way on the map, by putting those co-ordinates into the 'Location' box and pressing 'Find'. Then press 'Update co-ordinates' to automatically enter those figures into the 'Latitude' and 'Longitude' boxes.
Don't forget you can also add the 30 mph info now too. |

I've been working abroad and only got home today and I have to support the contrary view and ask that they not be removed unless it's confirmed by the normal channels.
I know people pay to download accurate information but, as a previous poster has commented, it would be far better to be safe than sorry. In fact the warning the device gives me of the possiblity of a camera, makes sure that I'm aware of the limit - especially on an unfamiliar road.
Finally, in the area where I mainly travel (South and West Wales area), plain motorcycles are used as well as the familiar vans, which don't look anything like an enforcement vehicle. The topbox lid is open and the camera peeps over the top. This could easily be missed by a passing PGPSW user who may be looking for a van. A couple of locations that I've notified, and which appear on the database, are located in such a place that although they can be seen by some drivers travelling in one particular direction, drivers travelling in the opposite direction cannot see it unless they look in the mirror after passing it as it's parked on an adjoining road. (Sneaky in my area). |

Would it be possible to distinguish in the database between temporary cameras that are installed for a period (such as to monitor speed limits on roadworks), and sites that are occasionally used by mobile cameras - or would that be just too much to manage?

The temporary files are observed in certain databases i.e. the 'zoned' database. Otherwise they are hard to find. I can find 23 listed in the zoned file. |

Single file version - Temporary cameras are included with all the others.
"Consolidated by type" set - The five types are "Gatso", "Mobile", "Redlight", "Specs" and "Temp"
"Speed-zoned" set - there are 24 categories (Gatso@30, Specs@60 etc.) One of the 24 is "Temp" |
