That looks ok, possibly a fault with ActiveSnyc.

I think you were right. I have re-installed it from a different PC using a different version of ActiveSync and it is working fine now.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and suggestions. |

If there is a common fault with viewing other maps when you upgrade TT5.21 to v660 I am not aware of it. That's not to say there isn't one.
The only thing I can think of is that your software is now confused because you have used TomTom Home which should only be used for TT6 and you actually have TT5 on your device.
If you have downloaded TT6 maps by mistake which it seems that you have, is it possible to contact TomTom, explain what you have done and see if they will let you download the TT5 upgrade?
I have just tried to acces TomTom Home from my own computer and because I am running TT5 I can't get it unless I download and run TT6.
I think that might be where the problem arises if all your other maps are TT5.21.

Thanks for reply. I have emailed TomTom about it but not had any reply. But I thought the vers 660 maps were common to both V5 and V6. The names of all the files look very similar to those in earlier maps and all sizes look correct so I don't think ActiveSynch went wrong.
With the previous maps, I can copy a map folder to the card whnever I want and it just picks it up.
TomTom Home itself seems to be working though even though I only have V5. It shows all the files on my iPAQ card and performs an install. The download didn't contain a V6 update so I'm not sure why it would have downloaded the wrong map if it knows what device I have.
I suppose I will just have to wait until TomTom reply to the email. However they did actually tell me I had to use Home to install the map on the card.

I think you are correct, v660 is common to both TT5 and TT6. TomTom Home would work on your device and if in fact you have downloaded the correct map and not the TT6 map perhaps it is TomTom home that is messing up your map settings. The web page will allow you to download TomTom Home even if your device is not on the approved TT6 list.
I'm not actually sure what happens if you download TomTom Home and then use that to download V5.21 updates which it looks like that is what you have done.
Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge than me can explain how it might have affected your maps.
It can be very confusing on the TomTom website, the information about TomTom Home and downloading TT6 and updating TT 5.21.

The version it downloaded was v660 build 1219. (I purchased it on Dec 21st.) Could that be the problem?
If I look at the list of my available maps on the TomTom site the new Western Europe map says to download using Home. It doesn't have any other option there.
The earlier city maps that I bought which are still there, allow a normal download.
I have just had a reply from TomTom to my email but it just says that they are still investigating.
How does Navigator recognise that a folder contains a map? I had thought that it was the -Map appended to the folder name. Home didn't name the folder like that but I have tried renamimg it myself and it didn't have any effect. As far as I can see all that Home did was to unpack the cab file and download it to the card in the iPAQ.

I have just logged in again to My Maps on TomTom and it has changed. The Western Europe map now says Download installer. Before it said to use Home. Home won't even go to My Maps section. I am downloading this version now and will see if it behaves differently. It's a different size to the previous one and has a changed product code.
Perhaps TomTom have realised that they sold me the wrong map.

Just a thought - is your storage card big enough for Western Europe plus the other maps you already have? Western Europe is not far short of 1 GB. It is possible that if you ran out of space, the folder Western Europe is there, but some of its contents are missing

The above reply only applies to hgm, the originator of this thread was trying to install a different map

Yes - I've bought a 2GB card specially after checkng in the forum if it works on a 3715. And it does. The whole map loaded down to the card.
I'm still trying to download the new map. This afternoon's attempt only downloaded 166MB and then stopped so I am having to try again. Pathetic speed of about 20 KB/sec on a 2Mb connection.

I thought I would just confirm that the new download of 660 map works.
I also received an email back from TomTom to tell me that they had changed the map in "My Maps" section to be a Navigator 5 version.
I don't know whether they actually supply different maps for Nav 5 to Nav 6 as I didn't receive the Nav6 software so I can't try it.

Well I did just say it was vers 660.
The map doesn't say anything else. However the pna file says Build 1223.
I thought everyone had sai that Vers 660 Build 1223 works with both Nav 5 and Nav 6. That'a why I said I didn't know if it was really a different map. They might have just put a code in one of the files.
