| Hello, i've had a look through the pages on the site for ages now and couldn't find anything on it so i'm sorry if i missed the answer but if i want to use Tom Tom 5 on my xda exec, do i have to use the tom tom bluetooth receiver? they seem a lot more expensive and this is my first go at bluetooth gps so just wanted something cheap really. cheap, but not crap! Thanks. |

You really have no viable option other than Bluetooth with the Exec, I would recommend a SiRF-III equipped device due to their sensitivity, the cheaper ones are not as good when you encounter difficult conditions (city centres/ high buildings built up areas etc)

Ok thanks for your help guys. Does the i-Blue 737 have the SiRF III thing? I was looking on mobile fun and they do a cheap gps receiver for just £30 but they also do one for £45 with the sirf thing you mentioned. is it worth paying the extra £15 for it? has anyone had any experience with the cheap one on mobile fun? here's the link to it http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm

SiRF III is definately worth it. It will give you a lock in all but the most difficult situations. Even if you have a heated front windscreen (or other metallic inlay) you should be able to get reception. |

I agree. But OTOH, if you want one with a data logger or integrated speed cam database, you must give up the extra sensitivity. The only bluetooth GPS receiver with a sensitivity better than -152dbm is not sold anywhere (GL-50-BT). |
