Looking for some help here please.

Had a TT510 for Xmas. Not sure why my good lady didn't get the 710 but thats another story..

I travel in Europe a lot so need to purchase maps. Not sure if it's me being stupid but what is the difference in all the maps of western europe at a size of 956MB and the individual maps like France that are 357mb and Germany/Swis and Austria at 369. Is there more detail in these maps? yet for the maps of western europe, it clearly says 99% street coverage. This is the one I would prefer to buy but didn't want to spend money to find out later I should have gone with individual maps.

Thanks for your help.

Steve.

The map of Western Europe has ALL the countries on it, including UK. An older version took me on a touring trip round Europe this last summer - Holland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Austria with the only small problems being that in Italy they had built a lot more and were building more major roads than TT had on my map. It found the road to the Leaning Tower of Pisa for me when I was utterly lost.
Look on TT site to see what countries it covers, because I haven't mentioned them all. There must be a point at which the price of individual country maps gets to be more than getting the Europe one. Plus, the Europe one can be used in place of your UK one and you'll navigate across the borders without having to change maps. I would have thought the apparent comparative extra size of individual maps will be down to common stuff which has to be included in each one, but perhaps only once in the Europe one - watch this space and somebody clever will come along and explain it to us all.

The current range of "country only" maps include the major roads in the other western European countries. So with the UK map, you could navigate to a town in Italy (say) but not to an address in that town. it would send you along the major roads to the town.

If you only need detail in one European country, buy that map and you can navigate (by major road) to that country from the UK and the map will increase in detail once you cross the border.
