"And no my battery is not knackered"

are u sure.. he he he

but 12 days is long a time.. but assuming a go 300 battery is about 2 amp hours.. the unit runs about 4 hours off its battery.. the current drain with one running would be about half an amp per hour..

sooo.. that would be 12 amps per day.. or 120 amps per ten days..

yep that is enough to flatten the average car battery in a week..

so dont leave your tomtom running for days on end.. but in normal usage it should not be a problem..

If switched off the current drain would be considerably less, I wouldn't recommend leaving a device in the car powered/ connected for that length of time though (powered or not) - Mike

Yup, as the man says. ciggy lighter PSUs/ chargers are great things, but leave 'em on unattended and you're asking for a flat battery. Do it a couple of times and you'll have a dead battery...

Hmm. My battery is only 2 years old. I would be shocked if it was "past it's sell by date" already.

Plus I remember before I got my TomTom ONE v2 I'd used my girlfriends TomTom ONE v1 for similar types of trips and had no problems whatsoever with the battery. Neither did I have any problems when I'd gone on long trips using TomTom on my phone.

It's only after buying the TomTom ONE v2 that I've ended up with a flattened battery Confused

depends how you treat it and also it could be a manufacturing fault...

Strange this why anyone would want to leave their TT1V2 in the car, left on for days on end beats me Confused

Here's a possible solution. Get a cigaret extension socket from the likes of maplins etc. The one I use has a safety device inside that switches the socket off if the voltage drops below 10.5V.

That solves it. Better than spending £40 on a new car battery. Also worth checking is; look at the manual on the audio (yes audio) handbook some car's (Like Vauxhallls) have the ability to program how the 12 socket works i.e. on live all the time or on live with ignition.

:D Happy motoring...

?? Then how could your TT1V2 be responsible for flattening the car battery? - Or have I missed something here !!?? Confused

The lighter socket only delivers power when the ignition key is in and at least turned to the first position.
This is how my car does it anyway. I'd have to leave the TT connected and the keys in the ignition :D

Because presumably the journey preceeding the car being parked up drained the battery so such an extent that the natural loss from the car being parked (e.g. to run the central locking etc) was sufficient to completely flatten the battery.

e.g. Lets say the battery naturally loses 1% every day. If the battery is 100% then this isn't a problem. If during the preceeding journey your battery had been completely drained, by using the sat nav, then it's a big issue.

The battery draining by running the tomtom on a long journey doesn't make sense.

If your car is operating correctly and the battery is ok running the tomtom whilst driving won't drain the car battery at all.

Before I got my ONE I had a bt gps unit in the permanently on socket of my car for 2 years - never unplugged and never had a problem with the car battery - there must be something live in the car that drains the battery overnight.....or the battery is knackered.

Well I think that's the point, my car isn't operating correctly. So I'm trying to pin down why.

I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that on all other occasions there have been no issues at all with the car starting Confused

So we went through three pages of posts debating whether the cigarette lighter socket stays powered with the ignition or not, only to be told now that the TomTom and charger weren't even plugged in overnight!

IT'S YOUR BATTERY! Stop it!
