I got the same message about the corrupted ZIP and I am on IE6. I tried several times, and with different POIs. The only way I could get it to work was to check the 'show link' checkbox and download from there.

Hello...I am new here. I went to download some POI's. These are the steps I used

1) Select System - Garmin
2) Select Country - USA
3) Select POI's - Accomodations
3) Separate Files per Directory

The one category I got to work was Accomodations all the other ones will just download a 22byte file and the file is corupt or bad.

I have tried to download with Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 2.0 but no luck. Oh and yes I am logged in.

I see some people got it to work as a download link I will have to try that as well.

Thanks for the site.

There is only 1 sub-category in the United States Accomadation POI, and when unzipped it's over 143KB.Confused

Which other Files did you download?

I figured out what my mistake was. When I selected the country I forgot to refresh. Actual I saw 3 different categories for the USA and they are.

1) Accomodations
2) Food & Drink - Only 1 StarBucks
3) Shopping - Only 3 choices

I would like to find a list of Zoo's for the USA for my Garmin. I am an Active member and have a Zoo pass which will get me into all the Zoo's around the USA. I just have not mastered writing a POI file yet!

Thanks

Michael
Note: The Garmin format is a basic CSV, you will be able to use it for other systems too.
I think Navman can use either csv or asc format.

Can you give us a bit more detail, please.

Which country's POIs are you trying to download? Which other categories are you trying?

The download Files are called pois.zip and it could be that your ISP is cacheing the name.

Try again and this time Tick the Show Link box, to see if that makes a difference.

Hi. Sorry about the double post. I am new to the forums and still not quite got the hang of it. Basically I have downloaded the tesco poi ok. Then when I select another poi it gives me the link but downloads tesco again. I am using the link and I am not combining categories. Do I have to do something else. Thanks

You can tick all the categories that you want if you want individual categories. Just DON'T tick the Combine box.

You will then have a zip file that contains all the individual categories as seperate OV2 and BMP Files.

Are you doing them one at a time? If so, are you unticking the Tesco Box before moving on to the next one?

Hi. Well what I basically do is make sure the last one is unticked. I then make a new selection. I choose a single category tick the show link box which then brings up the link which says download poi files with the number of kb next to it. This number changes every time indicating it is downloading the correct file but when it opens up it has downloaded the last poi I downloaded. Hope this makes sense.

What happens if you tick 2 categories to download at the same time?

The Zip Filename will be the same number everytime, and I can only think that the ISP has a cache that is comparing the names. This will give you the same file you had earlier. Or it could be the PC.

You could try emptying the cached Internet Files on your PC. This might clear the problem. It depends what your setup is, as to how you go about that.

Yeah I have tried emptying the internet cache. I have also tried deleting history & temp. internet files. Downloading 2 at the same time is still the same. I think I am downloading a different only to find when I open it up it is the same file as last time. I am working from AOL. Thanks for trying anyway.

At the point where you are offered "Download POIs ZIP" with the file size, right click, choose Save as, and change the file name. Try opening this new file and see what you get.
