could someone tell me what the diffrences between pocket navigator & terrain navigator pro, and memory map and using usgs doqq & drg maps?
I was looking for a good topo program and in the states the best I could find was maptech. I now see that it is very similar with memory map, and that memory map will allow a upgrade from pocket navigator. what is the upgrade, and is it worthwhile?
can pocket navigator also use the doqq & drg files (for another state) or just the proprietery ones?
I if you are in a area where 2 maps join, will that cause problems?
I mainly got this so I can search for benchmarks & control points, plan routes for my surveys. the 1:24000 scale quads & 1:12000 scale photos were necessary for me to have.
hardware wise I planning on running it on a dell axim x5, with cf gps card (don't know which one, the one maptech sells) how hard is the battery use going to be? I have the standard battery & the 3400 mah battery, as well as a car charger cord.
how many maps will fit on a 128 sd card, since that is what I have now, (i'll have to test it to see if it works)
so far I have downloaded the demo from maptech and it looks like it will give me the level of detail that I need. is there a way that I can add to the ngs benchmarks that are shown and place my descriptions in them, as there are other corners that I use that have not been published by ngs, (county, state, & private corners)
I wish I could have found this site sooner, before I ordered hardware & software, as it is most helpful.
