Please help.
I have had my IPAQ 3800 for some time now and it has worled well with the TomTom software / hardware bundled together.
I have just purchased a Globalsat BC-307 CF antenna so that I can be more "wire free" and use the setup for walking etc.
After much fiddling I have been able to get the GPS info software that came with the BC-307 antenna to show a GPS lock, but I cannot get any response within TomTom software, even with the same settings.
I have set the port to COM5: CF_CARD-GENERIC and the baud rate to 4800 within GPS info software
I have set the the same port in TomTom with NMEA 0183v2 4800
However I am not getting any lock, in fact I am not even getting confirmation that the antenna is receiving (in the status screen)
I am very much a beginner with this, so please be simple when replying.
Thanks

Does the GPS info program tell you which COM port it is? It may not be COM5: after all, you should also try COM4:

When you look at the TomTom GPS application, just below the world map. What version is mentioned there?

Memory Map Navigator also works off of COM 5
My choice of ports is as follows:
IRDA connection
Serial cable on BT
Serial cable on COM1
Serial on USB
Version no. is V2.0 265/330

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry to be dumb, but where / how do I do this?
Another point, I have had trouble working GPS in memory map, however, if I reset, and open memory map first, it works! If I have opened GPS info first, it won't!

same again with TomTom!, so long as the application - memory map or TomTom opens up the GPS it is alright. Any idea how to fix this?

I believe that's the version of TomTom? The GPS Driver version should be displayed on the GPS Info screen, v2.07 or similar?

I think I know what is happening. You need to make sure that the COM port is free again after you have used GPS Info. The PocketPC doesn't close programs when you tap the "X" - it just puts them into the background. You need to get a task manager to really close these applications. WisBar or something similiar

Darren - GPS info the software with the BC-307, says 6.9
on the GPS status program with TomTom it says V2.0 265/330 (the one with the map)

Lutz - thanks for that. I have noticed you can close GPS within GPS info. Must remember to do this!!! Thanks again.....you have been a great help.
