Bluetooth and GO300 what do I need to do.

I know this post will probably seem stupid to most of you but nevertheless hear goes. I have downloaded the latest software upgrade version 6 to my GO300 and thought given the Bluetooth capabilities I'd pair it to my Sony Ericsson K510i phone. The phone and TomTom found each other straight away. However, when trying to connect my phone keeps saying "connection failed" contact your operator or something similar. I have never used the phone for anything other than making calls. Will I need to activate or sign up to a service before I can use this facility? I'm assuming I will need to get the plus services from TomTom as well. I'm not sure if I cannot connect due to one or both of these reasons. Any help appreciated.
