The ogg File method is a completely different way of doing the Voice Warnings. There is no need to change the data.chk File at all.;)

Have a read of This Topic and take it slowly.

The ogg Voice Files you can get from HERE. Have a look at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for your replies, but no matter what I do I cannot get the voice prompts. I either get the chimes, bugle, horn etc or no sound at all. Seems I'll just have to put up with it or go back to version 5.420, which is a shame really because I like the improvements on the newer version. Confused

i just updated to 6.520 and lost the voice alerts.. the reason is becuase the data.chk file is different for every version,.,, download the new file for the version and rename your exisiting data.chk file to data old and simple down the new file into the same dir..

i have just done mine and it took 30 seconds max... no need to mess around with .ogg files..

Wac, like you were, I'm on 5.42 witha 300, which works well, and have been holding off from upgrading, what improvements have you found that you like?

Hi Tumbleweed
I find the menu's easier to negotiate, and other small things like when you can get the map to change to a blue screen when you go faster than a pre-determined limit or enabing you to disable some of the features when you are driving. May not be every bodies cup of tea, but I like them.

How? (without RTFM of course!!). I presume it'll work with my 700.

Yes, it will.

Change Preferences | Safety Preferences | Second Screen | Turn off map Display | Above a certain Speed. ;)

Thank you so much. I'll set it at 70mph - I try never to exceed speed limits, so this will keep me below the limit on motorways when I stop concentrating. At those speeds it's so easy to relax and let it drift over the limit.
