Is TomTom selling stripped down versions of Navigator 6?

TT support sort of confirmed what I suspected today. They sell the SD Card version of Navigator 6 with less POIs than the Navigator 6 DVD supposedly has so it will fit on a 1gb card. It seems I am only activated for the SD Card version and hence I cannot activate the stand-alone maps of Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico and I cannot install the 1.3gb North America map. TT says I should be able to activate the standalone maps but I can't. They did suggest that I access the Puerto maps from the .9gb US/Canada map which I discovered I can. So it seems I am missing .5gb of additional data that is present on the North America map and not present on the US/Canada map. As the US/Canada map also includes Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico it has the same coverage of the North America map. it just has .5gb fewer POIs.

It has fewer POIs (which is no loss) and it also has less surface features. For example, meadows and forests are lumped together. Unfortunately this also means some of the very minor roads are missing, a shame really as the 660 full map is really nice and detailed.

Are you saying you can install the North America map?
