I have started a new thread as it seems appropriate. You asked me..

I had cause to telephone Navman this pm as the SmartST with my new device will not allow me to connect to the internet to register the maps.
I asked the technician about your question. He tells me that you can put a maximum of 25 POIs on the N20 and have 24 Active at any one time. 
I was also interested to know if I can sell my existing iCN510 and transfer the registration to the new owner. The answer is 'Yes' so long as the regn. codes on the CD sleeves are passed over as well. The new owner then contacts navman who will change the ownership/registration.

Interesting. The gent from Navman was not sure when I asked him and he went away and said he was surprised himself as he thought that the limitation had been removed. Hwever, he said that the limit still remained. If yours work OK, then that's fine.

Another thing I don't like about the N20 is that there is no 'Show route' - I do like to have a look sometimes at a route over which I have never travelled just to see where the device is taking me. As far as I can see it does not exist on the N20 - there is a 'Demonstrate Route' but who wants to look at a long journey at a virtual 25mph

Can't you just switch to 2D and zoom out to see the entire route?

Must be me, Tim! Depends on the length of the route. eg From Harlow to Dover Ferry I cannot see the whole route but if I (say) put in Harlow to Downing St, I can. I presume one should be able to drag the screen to see the whole route but I'm having difficulty at the moment. Still learning.

Aaah! Got it. Tapping the 2D screen brings up dialog box on which one of the options is 'Route'. Select that, and the whole route is shown. Problem solved - (Sorry, Navman  )

Hi Gee-Pee,
Dont know if this will interest you, but Ive been looking at the n20 config files, the demo route is very slow and like watching paint dry, I managed to speed things up from 29 mph to 67 mph ! by changing a setting in the file default_settings.xml located on the n20 Program Files\Navman\SmartST_CE\UserData
Copy this file to your pc, keep a backup, open with note pad, Scroll down and Look for SIMULATION SETTINGS , property name="demonstrator speed" value="xx" and change xx to 30. upload back to the n20.
As for the poi limit, Ive just added another 10 files and still working ok. It would be intersting to see if any other n20 users can aviod the limit ? |

I have just brought a Navman N20, which has Navmans own safety camera data on it which I do not like.
I previously had a ICN510 with the GPSWorld data base on it and that was great.
The new N20 has changed the file extention to cvs.
Can some one please advise me how you can change the ASE files to CVS so they can be loaded on the N20.

Are you sure? Have you tried opening an .asc file in the POIEditor?

Just use poi edit and convert the files from one format to .csv format. |
