Ok I have now managed to get signal in the Staines area.
TMC level was about 9 with the TMC12 arial stuck on the windscreen.
Also it picked up traffic info on route down to Guildford this afternoon so mine seems to be ok (fingers crossed it lasts.
Although I didnt like the way it flashed up 3 miles of Traffic in Twickenham last Saturday after the rugby and only picked the traffic probs when I was sat int he middle of it. |

I'll say swings right as I tested my T1 today and got a classic fm signal all the way home. only a minor loss at bagshot junction on m3.
But this is the same as I always get. _________________ Dom

Swing no diagnostic screen comes up following the metho described here.
Called Garmin and epained the problem and was told to do update although I explained that I did that three or four days ago.
But I did as told and it is still not working! I think it will be on a one way trip to Garmin ! |

Which button are you pressing and holding - you have to hold it for about 6 to 8 seconds, and if you are driving, you'll have a job holding constant pressure on the button for that long... |

"To get into the diagnostic menu for the GTM:
Go to View Map, and then press the bottom left hand corner (Speed or ETA) to bring up the Trip Computer page. From there press and hold the Average Speed button. Then press Next 6 times, and you'll be on the GTM page - the important value is the "Level" number. "
swing , I follow your instructions above sat in my driveway. nuvi 350 has latest update, the Average speed button does not become "live" on the trip computer page! The only "live" buttons are the three including back and reset along the bottom.

Out of interest - what is going back to Garmin - the Nuvi or the GTM unit? |

woops, seem to have missed something in the translation then
Garmin weren't interested in the diagnostic screen any way and after loads of questions they wanted the GTM 11 back as the Nuvi seems fine and its GTM issue if there is no green signal light.
It's actually doing the same as the first unit I had that never ever worked. The one that's just gone back worked outside GPS warehouse when I walked out and plugged in, well it did until two weeks ago |

Yee Ha.
A new GTM landed from Garmin today, sadly I was out on business so It's beeing delivered again 2 morro.
It's a new Unit the lady at Garmin tells me, so it seems like Garmin get a and lots of n kisses from yours truly providing it works .
The second one in six months, so seeing the GTM 11 has been discontinued I hope its a different model or more reliable than the first two despite Garmins great service. |

Hello, I am in Windlesham and just got a nuvi 310d with GTM12 on Sunday. Just thought I would let you know I am picking up traffic everywhere around here, even in the middle of Chobham common. |

It takes about 5 minutes before the traffic data comes in then it just keeps coming everywhere. If you have problems with your new unit you can try it in my car on my 310 to confirm if it works. Sounds like we live almost in the same place. |

Well we share a village show and agricultural ties with yours Tomthumbtom if that gives you a clue and my lad and his friends run around your locals on Boxing day.
Well and yee ha for Garmin as the package was delivered a short while back.
And yippee they sent a brand new replacement as I guessed when they said the GTM 11 is no longer available!
But may I award you swing as you nail on head.
Despite my phone telecon and letter explaining previous problems and details re my in car set up Garmin dispatch sent a GTM 12. If I hang out the car window with the aerial at full length it works a treat but does not work on the road as despite driving an Auto I'm not prepared to with the aerial out the window as apart from being bl!!dy cold I think Surrey Plods would have something to say about the practice.
So yet another call to a helpful happy gent called Alex at Garmin and they are sending a GTM 10 as soon as they are back in stock .
I have to say they have been very good and it was a simple over sight, I just have to hope that the GTM 10 arrives croc style rather than snail.
Here's hoping
ps .Thanks for the offer Tomthumbtom. |
