Navmans tend to use their own interfance and a proprietary format for custo POIs, which uses their own POIEditor. Looks like you'll have to stump up the dough. It's a bit naughty of them not to include the necessary kit, though. _________________ Tim |

Hi Paul,
I have also just got myself an f20 and have the same problem.
Can I just ask where you have seen the desktop kit for £20, as looking on the navman website all I can find is a cable specified for the n20. Is this the same one?
Thnaks

The Connectivity kit will include drivers, Smart ST software, Usb cable.
Poi editor.
this will allow you to upload custom poi`s, update the software on the unit, |

I e-mailed Navman about the kit and they say it will be released at the end of the month.
This site says they're available from 2/1/2007 http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/451834/art/navman/aa005654-connection-kit.html
I think Navman rushed the F20 to get it out for Christmas. I was annoyed to find I have to buy software to connect it to my PC. I was even more annoyed to find I can't even buy it yet.

Guys
I have just bought an f20 for the mother in law for xmas, I already have an ICN 520 with the Smart ST software. My problem is I am trying to add speed camera data, though Im not sure how, I have downloaded a few Zipped files from this site and I am ready to install. Does anyone know whether the Smart St software is standard across the navman range? Can I use my icn520 Smart ST to load the camera data on the F20? Also, navman dont include a charger so you have to drive round for a few hours to charge the thing up before you can do anything !!
Happy Christmas to all

The reason the F20 doesn't come with the software / cable, is to keep the cost down. It's a basic sat nav, and if they bundled all the usuals with it the cost would be hiked up, and you may aswell buy a higher model.
Navman have done well to release a sat nav for £130 |

Fair comment, but it's annoying that you can't buy the connectivity kit yet. It would also be good if when the software's released you could download it from navman for a reduced fee (say £10-£15 instead of £20 for the kit), as I've already got loads of mini USB cables, & I'm sure others are in the same situation. I'm sure copies of this will end up on ebay and possibly will be downloadable from illegal sources. I don't condone this, but I can see this being a popular way of obtaining future copies, due to Navman's tactics. |

I know what you mean.
All the software downloads on the Navman site are updates (ie, service packs), so they don't even allow the download of the full software package.
My dad has a Navman i530, so I have the cable and software, but not sure if the software is Navman specific or not. |
