GPS not "locking on"?

Hi,

I've just bought a 2nd hand Navman 3000 with TomTom 2.2
Installed the lot but now I am running into the following problem;
When I check the GPS status in TT it seems to not be locked on to any sattelites. In the navigator mode it indicates that the GPS stays is unreliable. However if i then switch to Navman's GPS-info that i also have installed it shows that the unit is locked on to 7 sattelites.
Am i doing something wrong?

Check the NMEA datastream. The unit may have been reprogrammed to just give out RMC, and TomTom won't like that. Have it deliver GSA, GSV and VTG as well.

I've managed to solve it already.
It was set for the wrong type of GPS....
Doooh.....that's what you get for not having/using a manual...
