What features would you like to see in Outdoor Navigator?

Here's part of an interesting reply from jsiegel:

Hi John,

Thanks for your email. My goal right now is to remap the buttons that you
can't use at all so you have access to all of the functions. In the future,
two things are changing with ON:

1. Every action (zoom in, zoom out, follow mode, etc.) will have an
associated menu item. This will allow every action to be executed even if
there is no button for it.

2. A new dialog will allow mapping each action to a particular button. This
will allow you to reverse the zoom in and zoom out direction (up/down) for
however you'd like. It will also allow you to select the most important
actions for you, especially if you have a device with fewer buttons. Given
(1) above, you'll still have access to every action no matter what
configuration you create.

For you right now, I want to detect the i700 and reconfigure the buttons so
you can get at everything. That's a quick fix...not perfect...but better
than not being able to get at something. Again, this is a temporary patch.

What jsiegel has done is created a patch for the Samsung i700 PPC Phone that allows 'Follow Mode' to be accessed using the right arrow button. I tried it this morning and it works flawlessly! Later this week he will incorporate it into the main program, so that if anyone with an i700 uses ON, it will automatically switch to this new button configuration. This will be the public fix until the above mentioned dialog and menu commands are incorporated.

How about that for a speedy development!

I wouldn't mind betting on that. I am pretty sure there will be an enormous incrase in those symbian based smartphones... What's the stake?

We're not talking US. We're talking ON... unless you want to limit its map base to the US which would certainly raise some eyebrows... "Always On" is much more prominent in the "Old World" , but I see some good progress over here as well with GPRS getting into more and more areas.

I have actually got a Nokia 6600 and will shortly have a Sony Ericsson P900 and a Seimens SX1 to play with for a bit. Boy I love my job!!!

I now have a T3 as well as a T2.

How difficult is it to use the whole of the 320x480 screen. ON would really rock at that resolution.
