Apologies if this has come up before (I can't be the only one with this problem!) but I've spent an hour searching the froums and can't find anything.

I'm running a Globalsat BC337 in the CF slot of an Axim X51v, TTN v 5.210

When I fire up Tomtom it does not see any satellite signal, tho' I know it's there. When I put in a route nothing happens, until and unless I bring up a non TT screen e.g. I bring, say, Calendar to the foreground. I then get full and accurate voice instructions, tho' I can't see the map of course. If I then close Calendar, and bring TT to the foreground, the map shows a dead accurate position (with good satellite info), but does not update as I drive, nor do I get any more voice. I can repeat this process as often as I like - always good voice until I bring a TT screen up, then a totally accurate position but no update. Tomtom will only update if it is not the foreground screen!

Bizarre eh?

Any suggestions?

Laurie

PS As amatter of interest, Dell GPS and Co-pilot work perfectly - no, don't ask why I want Tomtom when I've got two working systems!

Laurie, I think the general view is that this will not work with the x51v CF GPS and TT (Welll not without major problems along the way) please have a read through the three pages HERE which detail this problem in quite some depth it might give a few more ideas, most users gave up and resorted to a BlueTooth unit from what I can remember.

Thanks for the response, Mike. It seems that this combination will not work.

I knew that Tomtom had compatibility problems with CF receivers, but understood, from their own website, that the latest version had addressed these

I have an Axim X51v and I can't get TTN 5.21 to run in landscape mode properly. Everything is incredibly slow, the menus redraw like treacle across the screen and the map view takes ages to refresh. Have you tried yours in landscape ? Has anyone else any ideas ?

Regards

Roger

Do you use POI's Enabled, or only Warn When Near?

Using the Enable POI Function on a PDA will slow down the Screen updating.

Using the Enable POI Function on a PDA will slow down the Screen updating.

I always disable all POI's and was not using Warn When Near. This is something much more fundamental and related to landscape mode. You can actually watch the menu screens slowly redraw across the screen.

I've also tried modifying the executable and removing the VGA-Aware resource. This runs fast enough in QVGA landscape but it will not load properly from landscape mode on the PDA. You have to switch the PDA to portrait mode then run TTN5.21 from there in landscape mode. Also there is then a redraw bug in the map view - when you move the map to another location it doesn't always redraw.

Regards

Tried it in landscape mode (and upside down!) and had no problems at all

That's very odd. Was it definitely running in VGA mode ?

Just another update for info. TomTom 6, the latest version, works perfectly (and very fast) with my X51V and a CF receiver (Globalsat BC337)
