I have a few questions about version 6 of the program. I'm sorry if they've been answered before.

We have an original TomTom ONE (bought November 2005). Can I upgrade it to version 6 free of charge? Will it work with the version 5 map data we already have?

TomTom talk about having to install some software on my PC (TomTom Home). Do I have to use this? Judging by numerous posts here it sounds as if this software is causing quite a few headaches. I would prefer to keep things simple and download the updated TTN program from TomTom's website then use Windows to copy it to the TomTom ONE. Can I do that?

I've read the description of the upgrade on http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=5327&Lid=1 Have they made any changes other than those described. For example, have they improved Itinerary planning (to allow me to specify a starting place for the itinerary, and to allow me to enable/disable waypoints)?

The component that HOME is trying to download enables you to have a Virtual ONE on your PC Screen. Not essential but can be useful.

You can download the updates and when HOME asks if you want to Install now, Click NO. There will be a Cab File and a TOC File. You can Unzip the CAB with Winzip, and Copy the Files across.

The idea of the Virtual ONE on the PC is to make the planning of Itineraries easier.

You have always been able to Mark Waypoints as Visited.;)

Thanks very much for your swift reply, Richard

This seems to imply that I need HOME in order to download the update. Is there no other way (perhaps, like the map downloads I have down in the past, using the My TomTom page on the TomTom website)?

When I do this it seems to disable all the waypoints up to and including the one marked as visited. Am I missing something?

The Software DL is only available via HOME. I find it a pain to keep connecting to HOME. I can understand TT only wanting 1 method though.Sad

If you're desperate try http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/oldboy/TomTomUpdates/ttgoupg615.zip

Thats correct. The idea was that within a journey if you wanted to miss the next, or more, stop(s) you could just avoid it.

It was also useful if you had to make a diversion, for accident or roadworks, and was unable to physically pass that Waypoint.

I understand that that is a useful option, but I often want to miss just one (or some) of the waypoints. In versions 2/3 of TTN I could enable/disable each individual waypoint separately, and I think it would be most helpful if an "enable/disable" option were reinstated in the program in addition to "mark as visited". Is there a wishlist for future program development to which I can add this?

Please don't scatter the same question everywhere. I've replied to your other Post HERE.
