Never ceases to amaze me how an entire generation seem to have grown up assuming they are entitled to download/rip/steal everything.
OK, we all know it goes on a lot, but they get mad when its even pointed out to them!

Anyway, I don't think he'll find another TomTom forum that welcomes him Wink .

Found a solution to the Pocket Loox 720.
Copy all files from Loox store that you want to keep to the SD card as this directory will be deleted.

Go into the registry and search for \local_machine\drivers\builtin\flshdrv
change the folder name to \sd mmcard\sdcard.

soft reset

the flash drive is now the sdcard and TTN6 works perfectly
with voices and maps on the root directory of the sd card :D

i didnt get mad for him pointing it out, it was the holier than thou attitude in which he pointed it out that got me,
a mere redirection to rules was enough to let me know how the site was run, but in response to the other sites yes ive found one who was helpful while not condoning the use of pirate software and was also grateful for the remedy ive provided for the problem that a few on there were having
anyway its all sorted now ttn6 working fine
and thank you again hope, your advice was taken
if anybody else has the same problem i may have the solution for you
although i dont condone the use of pirate software, i may have a solution to the 'no maps found' problem for which this thread was started
and back again to the principle of my gripe with the moderator,
do tomtom offer trial versions, no
how are we supposed to know if its going to work on our equipment
if we cant try before we buy,
there is always a method in my madness
what use is software if its out of date, right?
downloading something to give it a trial is common practise with most companies, just tomtom would rather you waste your money
hence the reason i was asking questions on here

NEEpps,

another, possibly less radical workaround which I got from the TomTom support team, is to rename the [\LOOXStore\2577\] directory to something like [\LOOXStore\2577.old\] and... voilą, TTN now correctly "sees" the contents on the SD Card.

FYI -- I had gone through the registry hives but got shy to change their contents as I do have some "autorun" shortcuts in the \LOOXStore\2577 directory which were placed there by the OEM and which I definitely did no want to mess around with.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your solution.

Regards,

The idea is that you're supposed to read the rules BEFORE you post. That way you'd save yourself the trauma!

yes i know thats the way things should happen but, you know yourself if your searching on the net for a specific problem, then google guides you to a post somewhere and you see the comments, the last thing on your mind is site rules,
you will find that 99% of the posts on informational and discussion websites are visited by sheer chance linked thru keywords etc
yes my mistake for not reading the rules first, but as you also know, there is always somebody who is willing to help, even if its a quiet word on the side,
the whole idea of these forums is to help people right?
thats what mine is used for, and if somebody comes onto my site asking about a strange noise coming from their bike when they go over 100mph i aint gonna say to them
'sorry you shouldnt be riding so fast, you wont get any help from this site if your going over the speed limit'
am i?
would you?
i know there are laws and we all have to show to be abiding them but its really impractical and not really the best way to run a site for advice when the modertors come in shouting the rules and making people feel unwelcome, thats how i felt
i would never dream of telling a new member that they wont get advice on certain things if they say they have done something wrong before
u seeing my side to it yet?
i know what im doing and i know what im saying, i doubt the moderator thought before he typed his response, i choose moderators for their ability to think on their toes and give the right responses, i dont choose them just for their knowledge in motorbikes.
yes if somebody came onto my site and said i need help fixing a stolen bike id tell them where to go, but this is hardly comparable, its more like somebody asking me advice on fitting yamaha stickers to a suzuki, which i would be only too glad to help, although i might send them a quiet little pm telling them that they cant fool people into thinking its not a yamaha,
tactful words are the best way to run these sites i think,
not arrogance and tyranny (buxton style) Laughing
after all thes are only words on a screen and only mean something to those who want to remember it
i just hope buxton can remember this post for the next time somebody comes on and admits to owning a 'copy' of tomtom
think about what it means to that person and also what it means to the greater good of the site and its members, and a gentle prod towards rules on using copied material would be more than enough to make the point
anyway thats my rant over with
id just like to add that yes ttn6 now works fine on both the x50 and the x50v and now i know its worth buying the official product
all is well that ends well
cya soon

Please don't refer to me as buxton. The correct spelling is Buxton, but even so it is a term reserved for my Father and former teachers.

I see you haven't yet taken my friendly advice on incorporating correct grammar and punctuation usage into your posts.

now your scraping the bottom of the barrel for a retaliation :o
im sorry if my post offended you in any way, it wasnt meant to
as a biker i tend to have a relaxed attitude about things like grammar,
the same as my posts
life is too short to get stressed over grammar
my pc will sort it out if its important
if u have a good look at my posts you will see i also never use caps,
why should i???
theres no need for capital letters in speech (unless your shouting)
only in engineering, science and maths does caps have a use in the real world
thats when i use my capital letters pen Laughing

Whether it has been stolen, by breaking into someone's garage and taking away their pride & joy, or by copying thier CD, its still stolen.

I'm sure that Tim will react in exactly the same way the next time that someone comes along asking for advice on something that they've stolen. I know that I will!

You'll find that Capital Letters (and grammar and punctuation) also get used by people who've been educated in the use of English.

Carl,

That was not retaliation for anything; it was a request for you to not address me in that manner, that's all.

As a biker I find that doing things properly instead of cutting corners leads to a much more pleasant experience. I've already explained why I think you should use capital letters and punctuation; it makes reading the posts easier.

Anyway, I think this has gone far enough. You know the site's position on discussing piracy and this is not open to negotiation.
