|
I have a MDA Vario II and I installed TomTom 5.21 on the memory card. When I load the card TomTom Starts up and then it disapperas. Has anyone successfully used TomTom5 on a MDA Vario II.
The same TomTom software works fine on my IPaq 3870 which has pocket PC windows version 3.0 version on it. My Vario has version 5!
I bought my Vario II mainly to have phone PDA and Navigator together but battled with the configs no luck.
I would very much appreciate someon's help on this.

Thanks jimbo, I moved it to a more suitable place where it might get some answers,
Chan I am sure someone will sort the problem out for you.
When you start the TT application what happens? - does it ask a few questions each time and then revert to the Today screen, or does it do nothing - Mike |

Hi Mike,
Many thanks. I am very new to this forum.
It does not ask any question, it starts up (The initial TomTom screen appears for less than 2 secs - not the home) and then it goes back to Today's screen. |

have you tried the usual trick of deleting the navigator file in the Program Files/Navigator directory? |

Once again thanks for your help. When I load the SD card, TT starts and then it disappers. It is not even writing the TomTom directory in the program files. |

A couple of Qs, did you install the map to storage with a card reader? did you select all hidden files to do this? what map version does the .pna file state?
That said, I would start over. I dont have the Vario II, but installation should follow the path of the Vario I. First uninstall Tomtom start/settings/system/remove programs. Shut down the Vario with the main power button (press & hold, wait for the confirmation warning). Download TTN 5.2 form the link below. Connect the Vario to PC via activesync and install TTN 5.2. Soft reset, start Tomtom from the today plugin and follow the screen prompts to activate.
If your aim is to install everything to storage (If I am reading you correctly) get it running stable on the device first, then transfer to storage.

Hey everybody, newbie here.
I'm getting a MDA Vario II in the next week and was just trying to find out which TomTom software to get when i came across this thread, very helpful.
So, 5.21 works fine on this phone, but the TomTom site only seems to be offering version 6. Will version 6 work on the MDA Vario II? And do i need to buy it on dvd or memory card. Judging by previous posts it would be dvd and then transferred to the phone before moving it to the memory card.
This might be a stupid question, but can i make and receive calls/text or browse the net while the tomtom software is running? can i be on the phone while the tomtom is giving me directions?
Thanks |
