I use the SirfDemo software to see which my firmware version is. After pressing the Action/Switch to NMEA menu, a new window opened, which has several parameters. I don't know how to set these parameters.

Does anybody know how to set them to suit for my holux 236? 8O

They are list as follow:
GGA:1
GLL:0
GSA:1
GSV:5
RMC:1
VTG:0
MSS:0
User8:0
User9:0
User10:0

User checksums: ticket

Baud rate:9600

That's all.

I just changed the Baud rate to 38400, then clicked SEND. Is that correct?

There is a later version of WinfastCE here http://www.leadtek.nl/nts/uk/products/gps/index.php?tab=3&sid=1&step3=yes&pronameid=243&item='Graphic%20Cards'&dl_id=147&dl=4&ml_id=75&ml=1 look down to Utility - CE. The version is shown as 1.1 but it's actually 1.3 with a save facility which allows you to save and print the results. Before printing you'll find it's best to go through the list and add a space between the $GPRMC and $GPVTG Strings which shows you the results for each second. e.g. of 5 second period. I've made bold the times e.g. 15:09:09 and also made bold the GGA and GLL lat/long figures. As you will see they are the same so GLL can remain at 0.

$GPVTG,330.05,T,,M,0.17,N,0.3,K*60
$GPZDA,150909.000,25,09,2006,,*58

Notice the three $GPGSV at 5 seconds. GSV is satellites in view, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 are pages 1 of 3, 2 of 3.......

So the GSV can be set to 5 seconds in WinfastNavigatorCE.

Your settings look OK to me.
GGA = (GPS fixed data)
GLL = (Position Lon/Lat)
GSA = (Satellites fixed (locked on))
GSV = (Satellites in view)
RMC = (Minimum Data required)
VTG = (Course and ground speed)
MSS = (Beacons)
User8:0
User9:0 (This user on mine results in a $GPZDA showing every second. ZDA = Time and Date). e.g. 15:09:09.000,25/09/2006
User10:0

Try switching GLL and VTG to 1 then have a short run out to see if there is any improvement in your sat. nav.

When you leave Winfast make sure you Disconnect and then Exit via the Tools. Don't just close by using the X top right or your port will stay locked. You could however Disconnect and then use the X. Now you'll find you have a COM 4 available.

Good luck.

Hi,

The downloads on that Leadtek site use ftp protocol. Can someone please explain how to go about downloading these if your browser just hangs on them.

Cheers, Alan.
