TomTom Wired GSP Repairs

Does anybody know if the TomTom Wired GPS (supplied with TTN3) is servicable and who (apart from TomTom!) services them? I have several that are out of warranty and I'm loathed to dispose of them. The problem with them is no power/LED which I suspect may be down to use with hard-wired (cheap) pda mounts.
