GPS Software reccomendation for navman jacket/ipaq h3850

Hi,

I've currently got a Navman GPS Jacket for an IPAQ H3850 which came bundled with Pocket CoPilot (not sure what version but the last update I recevied was version 3.0UKI). The IPAQ/GPS Sleeve were bought around March '02 as a bundled package from Dixons. I am essentially looking to purchase a good route planning software package which provides updates combined with all the usual bells and whistles

Reading another article on the navman forum of this site I read that the firmware version is helpful in identifying the GPS Jacket so I've pulled the following info from Winfast Navigator (Sorry if this is too much/not enough or just plain wrong) hehe

Given this data is anyone able to reccomend a suitable GPS Software route-planning package for the UK only (other countries would be an added bonus but not essential). I was happy with the way CoPilot performed except for it's occasional quirks. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be incredibly grateful and I thank you all very much in advance for your time. It's going to be my Xmas present :D

Hi Matt and welcome

With that combination you could use TomTom Navigator quite happily. You would need to install the GPS jacket driver supplied on the iNS CD as TomTom do not supply the necessary driver.

Other pacakges would also work such as Destinator3 but with TTNav you can make use of our Safety Camera Database as well I have a friend using TTNav2 happily with the same setup as you have.

For the record, the iNS GPS Jacket is almost identical to the Navman 3000 Jacket, the firmware was 'tweaked' slightly so that the Compaq iNS software which was software locked to the jacket could identify it and so the Navman Jacket serial driver will not work hence the need to use the iNS driver, its on the iNS CD in the GPS Jacket folder though and is a .cab file so is simple to install.

With this driver installed, amny GPS application that is NMEA compatible can communicate with the iNS jacket.
