tomtom nav2 road search

Hope someone can help...

I have a problem with TomTom nav2 (latest version). The other day I wanted to search for a road which I was told was in staines, middlesex. I typed in staines and then looked through the list of roads but the road i wanted was not there, eventually I found the road but it took such a long time (it was actually labelled as being in thorpe - not staines)

Basically what I want to know is if it is possible to enter a road name and get a list without having to put in a town. Because on so many occasions I know the road name and post code but not the town.

I find it so hard to believe that Tom Tom nav2 does not let you simply enter a road name and you get a list of all matching roads and then you can select the one you want by postcode.

Please let me know if any of you have any pointers

This is rather a philosophical question. How many times have I thought "Why, oh why can I not search by town in Mapopolis, why do I always have to know a road name?". Just a different approach to the UI - each vendor has their own idea how it should work.

And no, currently TomTom doesn't allow you to skip the city field.
