Can anyone suggest ways to do this?

I need to get to this hotel, and neither the road or postcode seem to exist in TomTom

Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel
Parkgate Rd,
Chester,
Cheshire CH66 9PB

what do others do in such circumstances?

I have these manual directions:

Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel, Chester Directions:

FROM THE SOUTH, TAKE THE M6 NORTHBOUND TO JUNCTION 20, LEAVE THE M6 AND JOIN THE M56 DIRECTION CHESTER AND NORTH WALES, STAY ON THIS MOTORWAY UNTIL THE END.
Take the A5117 direction Queensferry, turn right at the first roundabout onton the A540 direction Hoylake.
Craxton Wood is approximately 200 yards past the next set of traffic lights on the left hand side.

Find the nearest place or road intersection to your destination, then select it and choose 'Show On Map'. Once you have the map display, if you can see the place you are looking for, then tap on it and set as destination/favourite. If it's still not clear from the map, then use uk.multimap.com to identify the place you need.

I tried it using your directions, found the road OK. Note that Parkgate Rd is there, it shows as CH1 postcode since it starts in the centre of Chester, but it runs for a long way. Easiest way was to zoom out a bit, you can then see the M56 to the north, A5117 at the end, and the A540 roundabout shortly after that.

Parkgate Road (the A540) is in Tom Tom but the address the hotel has given you is a bit misleading. Rather than being in Chester, the hotel is nearer Ellesmere Port and the address given in Microsoft Autoroute is Parkgate Road, South Wirral. I don't know the area but Parkgate Road is a mighty long road and the hotel - which is marked on Autoroute - is about 6 miles outside Chester going in a northwesterly direction.

My solution in these cases where the vagaries of Tom Tom's database won't show the destination is to find it in Autoroute and then open Tom Tom in map mode and manually plot it onto the screen as a Favourite. Your hotel is just 150 metres southeast of the junction with Puddington Lane, shortly before Parkgate Road becomes Chester High Road.

According to multimap, that postcode has the co-ordinates, 53:15:45N (53.2625), 2:59:07W.

You can manually input these into tomtom.

I live in Ellesmere Port and the place you want is in TT2

As it says come to the end of the m56, 1st left onto the a5117 to north wales. The next round about (has a tesco petrol station on the left) turn Right onto Park gate a540 which is in tt2. Through the 1st set of lights and its 200yrds as it states.

And its not chester is more on the Wirral or ellesmere port
