Two possibilities -
1. Are you sure that your Mio was receiving from LBC? Mine will not. In London it receives Capital and Heart. If I exclude both then it won't stop on any other station and that includes LBC.

Tell the truth Sal, I cant be sure in regards to the second radio station as I only glanced briefly. It doesn't stay locked on with TMC PRESENT displayed. Embarassed Wink
Which leads me to think that something is wrong with my unit.

I'll try again and take more care to look this time and report back to the forum. Smile

And Sally - Take it easy on MIOC210USER. I think what he says has some truth to it but as per usual I cannot find the artical that was posted on this site.

There's nothing wrong with your unit at all! If it had locked on LBC then there might have been.

You are quite right of course. I don't know why this topic causes so much excitement. I have no bad feelings for MIOC210USER and I wish him success in getting his unit working with TMC. If Mitac knew what they were doing there would be no reason for any controversy.

Hi

Sorry it's been a while.

I've finally tested a Mio and Easy Devices TMC Aerial on both a C210 and C510.

And Guess What

Neither works.

They say I have full signal, and occasionally says that TMC is Present, but will not lock onto and station or recieve updates

Hi Peter,

sorry to hear that you still cannot get the TMC adaptor to work on your 510. Since copying over the new DATA file via the link kindly supplied by miomio a short while back, the TMC reception and listing of incidents works even better and faster on my 510. If you haven't already tried this modified DATA file (use the blue border file), it might be worth a last ditch attempt to get the TMC up and running.

Regards

Anybody subscribe to PDA essentials?

If so have a look at the advert for the mio c710E and tell me which software version it is showing because the layout is not a format I have seen on mine.

Not a big deal but the forum has gone a little quiet of late!!! Twisted Evil

I can't get the GNS adaptor from Easy Devices to work on my C510E either. Occasionally it puts up the two little car symbols but there is no station name and only a very short orange bar, and of course no data. I might try the updated DATA file as well, though I have been holding back on installing it in case it increases the lock-up/reboot frequency.

Hi

I have installed the updated file on my C210, which works OK, however it has made no difference to the TMC, so I not going to install it on the C510

Thanks

Hi PTS,

final word on this subject, but not sure why you chose to do this on the C210 since nothing to date regarding TMC has been claimed to work on this unit type. As i said previously, it was worth a last ditch attempt to try to get TMC running on your C510, not 210.

Hi Peasemold,

i have not had a single lockup or reboot since i copied over the new DATA file, if anything it is more stable than the original. Don't forget that you also get more settings options to play with even if you still cannot get the TMC to work. My adaptor worked with both V3.1 & V3.2 but it functions even better with this new DATA file. You can always delete it and put back the original if you are not happy. Also be sure to use the blue border DATA file should you decide to give it a go as the black border file worked on my 510 in every aspect bar the TMC.

Cheers

Hi, Just thought i would add my piece to the debate. Since seing this thread I have purchased the TMC from easy devices and it works perfectly on my 510. I travel from Winchester to Norwich every weekend and have had information from several stations including the local FM station in Norwich. At one point on the jounery along the M3 there were 16 screens of traffic data displaying.

Hi dpmguy,

good to hear from another 510 user who has a TMC adaptor that works. Our exclusive little club is growing (that was you Bigrids & me until now). The 16 pages of incidents/events is pretty typical and as i stated previously, the TMC works even better/faster since i copied over the new DATA file. As soon as the adaptor is plugged in, the TMC screen appears and page after page of incidents start compiling. All in all i am very happy with my adaptor and it works!

Regards

So I wonder what the difference is between these C510's where the TMC works and the C510's where it doesn't..

It's gotta be a software thing.. Surely..?

It's got to be something like that. Though I'm glad someone else has managed to get a working adaptor I'm deeply frustrated that I have so far had a non-functioning Mio-badged device and now a non-functioning GNS device - the latter being nominally the same as the proven functioning one.

As I have inadvertently knackered the antenna on mine I can't even send it back.
