I've bought the Navigator 6 DVD version with the full Western European maps. I've a 2GB card in my PDA so space isn't too much of an issue but I'm unsure as to what is the best selection of maps to install.
Western Europe - Is this the seamless map of Europe? It's smaller than all the country maps combined so I assume some data is missing? Will using the seamless map affect performance?
The maps which include the "major roads of Western Europe", I assume there's no benefit to this if you had say the main map for all the countries installed that you're likely to need, i.e. the MR of WE will be included in the detailed map. E.g. If you installed GB alone then you may want the MR of WE option, however if you had GB, France, Germany, etc then there'd be no point including MR of WE maps?

Thanks.

The Western Europe map is seamless and designed to fit onto a 1Gb card with a bit of room to spare for Custom POIs, etc.. Some detail has been removed, but not enough to worry about, in the UK at least. A lot of it is to do with shading for woods, forests and such like.

If you choose individual country maps then the Major Roads maps might still be worth having for one country at least, in that it will allow cross-border navigation which the individual country ones won't.

For instance if I knew I was going from the UK to Spain and was only travelling on main roads in France, I'd load the UK with MRE and the Spain without MRE maps. I'd then swap maps at the Spanish border.

Cheers Tim, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going to put on the GB with MRE and then the country only maps that I need.

Much appreciated, shame the TomTom documentation (manual, DVD and online) is a bit "light" on information.
