Thanks for the link guys, and Trog100 for a brief explanation of how to "borrow" the basis..... sssshhhh!!
So do I assume then that BodgerBaz and pulpfixtion have used the same "borrowed" picture, and then edited it somehow by adding the Police Picture and the words seperately, then created one file?
Hmm, guess I could try, but not too clever at editing stuff!!
Any other help would be great whilst I give this a try.

first u need irfanview.. its free and for what it does nothing does it better..
u dont need the "borrowed" pic u can use any pic.. borrowing is just part of the secret.. look around for any web image u like and borrow it..
the reg plate for example can be cut and pasted into any image.. so could the manufacturers logo image image..
not sure where to borrow a police logo from but i am sure they are all out there somewhere..
u take your image load it into irfanview.. select image/resize.. u then flip it clockwise and save it as a .bmp file.. the splash screen on the sd can be renamed from splash.bmp to say splash-1.bmp.. this stops it being overwritten when u copy your new one in..
u can have several on the sd card.. the one named splash.bmp will be the one that gets used..
the image does have to be the right size.. for the 300 series its 320 x 240.. the later widescreen tomtoms are a different size i cant remember offhand..

Have a look at dirtyweerainclouds post.

He shows the link to what you need, to create the image.
Bottom line, create an image on your pc, use "dirty's" app, and voila "Robert's your Parents brother"

How do you get a different splach screen on start up and suspend?
I thought it was just one file?

boot is splash.bmp as you know
shutdown is suspend.bmp TT1V3 other models may differ in name's used. |

yep... makes sense I guess, although I don't see a "suspend.bmp" on my GO 700.
I'm guessing if I create one it would work?

Taking inspiration from Soweezy I've created a splash for Sussex.
It won't win a D&AD award...

Nope the link didn't work, but that's because you added it as an Image and not a URL... so I've done it for you to save people having to copy, open a browser and paste!!

One of the mod's posts seemed to suggest the IMG tags with a URL in-between would allow the image to be shown on here. Oh well. Perhaps another time I can make it work :O) Hope the splash screen is useful to someone.

Does anyone know if suspend.bmp works on a 700.
Loaded the file, but it shows the splash.bmp when I shutdown. 
Am I doing something wrong??

So if I convert the .bmp to .jpg then place the amended URL inside the IMG tags again, it will work? |
