|
|
Hi,
My iCN530 "crashes" every time a route is calculated (or re-calculated) after it has been switched off, or awaken from "sleep-mode". I get a Windows error-message that states there is an error caused by some .exe-file (Nav...something.exe). When selecting "ok" in this error-message-window the iCN reboots, but hangs on the startup/logo-screen. To get it all working again, I have to do a hard reset (using the reset button).
Anybody have any theories why my iCN acts this way. Can it be related to the fact that I use a 1GB SD-card instead of the recommended 512 MB?
Many thanks in advance!

I don't think it's the size but the brand of the SD card. Many people (including myself) use 1GB cards without problems.
What brand/type of card are you using? |

Despite Navman's recommendation for max size of SD card on my iCN510, I happily use a 1Mb card, though it is, what is euphemistically called, a high speed card. What's yours _________________ Gee-Pee

Just noticed your comment in red above. Using the reset button, I always thought was a soft reset. Turning off the device with the on/off switch - not the one on the front - is a hard reset. _________________ Gee-Pee

These kinds of problems have occured in past iCN's from faulty cards and/or map files on cards. The other cause could be a fault iCN. I would try reloading the SD maps onto the SD card. (Do a full format of the SD card first), and if possible, try another SD Card.
Has it ever worked correctly? If not, it is very likely to be the SD card. |

I get the same problem on occasion, and I had the recommended size SD card installed, so I think you can discount the card.
It usually kicks in when I have accepted 1 or 2 of its diversions from the traffic screen, and then chosen to ignore one of its turns (avoiding the farmyard road it would like to send me down)
It can be of no accident that the default voice is a female.

Hi Daniel
Navman realy dont recommend 1GB cards in the ICN530, however I had trouble with a Sandisk 512MB and it was down to how windows formatts the card (FAT32), try reformatting in FAT and I bet your sorted out.

Thank you all very much for your replies! Highly appreciated!
Well - I tried with another SD-card, and it looks like it did the trick. We'll see though - I'll be going to Germany over the weekend, so I will have a golden opportunity to test it all out thoroughly.
Thanks again!

My iCN 530 also used to crash when I used Integral 512 MB 66x SD card.
Now I use Kingston 256MB 40x SD card and it is OK. |

I've noticed quite a few times that things become unstable when the battery gets low; maybe after ignoring a few warnings. |

No answers but using my icn530 in France on holidays this year we had it continuously crashing at one point. It was just one section of one day's driving and for a space of about 20 / 30 miles it just kept crashing and restarting. Eventually decided it was a map problem (though it could have been an SD card issue too).
Strange thing was that even with the same error box up on the screen as you describe the program was still running in the background and giving out directions. So long as we didn't hit the OK button (to restart it) it was fine. Very strange!

My iCN 530 has SP1 installed but it still used to crash with the Integral SD card. |
