TomTom Go USA Maps

Hi Guys,

I have a couple of queries regarding the USA maps for TomTom Go 500.

1. Do they give door-to-door directions, like inputting a zip code and it gets you there,
2. And where is the cheapest place to buy the cards? I seem to only be able to find them on the TomTom website (none on eBay).

The SD card version is seamless across the states, the DVD/CD version are individual state maps (also down to stret level/postcode etc)

I thought that unlike our postcodes, each zip code covers quite a wide area in the states, so wouldn't be accurate enough for door to door. Could be wrong though.

5 digit zip codes cover a large area (IE 34747 covers parts of kissimmee florida) but tomtom do not use the 9 digit zip codes (neither do most americans) which are the same as our 7 digit codes

other than that the usa maps work the same as all the european maps( door to door)

you can navigate to "kissimmee" then "funnie steed road" and then the number

if you want to you can use the zip codes (34747) in place of kissimmee but not in the place of funnie steed road

if you buy the maps from tomtom (download) you will be able to navigate from door to door within the map

by this i mean if you purchase southeast region you can go from miami florida to atlanta georgia without switching maps, but if you purchased northeast region as well you will not be able to navigate from miami to new york without switching maps. you will have to find a town near the edge of the southeastregion that is also on the northeast region map and navigate to it then switch maps and navigate from it to new york

the same applies if you buy maps on CD/DVD

if you buy the maps on an SD card you will be able to navigate from miami to new york in one go
