TomTom Bluetooth GPS Battery Question

I bought a Bluetooth TomTom GPS back in May of this year, and used it daily for a couple of weeks when on holiday abroad (I have factory nav in my car in the UK so don't need it here).

Since then it's been sat at home unused.

I will be using it again next year for a couple of weeks again.

My question - will the battery degrade over the year of not being used?

Also, how much constant use would you expect to get from the Bluetooth TomTom GPS? It seemed to outperform my PDA last time I used it, but I am curious as to how long it could operate for between charges?
