I've read quite a few posts on this forum about the Navman 4400 BT causing iPAQs (or the 2003 OS) to lock up, and see that a patch/update has been released. Can anyone give me some guidance as to whether the patch has actually resolved the problems? If so, are there any other bugs still existing that I should be aware of?

I'm trying to decide between a TomTom BT / iPAQ 2210 bundle and a similar one with Navman 4400 BT (the latter works out quite a bit cheaper as you don't have to spend an extra 100+ pounds for European maps). Any advice would be gratefully received.

The lockups are a function of using BT with PPC2003 and not any particlular model of BT GPS.

So long as you exit the application using the BT GPS before switching off then you will not suffer the lock-up. HP have introduced an interim BT Fix which occupies 2MB of RAM, I haven't installed it and won't until they provide an update that installs to ROM.

Be certain which application you prefer before purchase, Navman SmartST may be cheaper but it is less popular and offers no support for custom POIs so you will be unable to take advantage of the Safety Camera Database and freeware POI alerting utility CheckPOInt.
