Mmm! And who says that they will. Lets be honest, the chances of a company going to all that time and expense to update maps for a programme that’s been superseded by TT6 is rather remote.
I myself will be staying with TT5 and hope that they do update their maps but certainly wont hold my breath while waiting. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

A small bet perhaps, say, 10 quid? :-) |

From the TomTom website:
"Introducing a new map update program. Starting in the beginning of the third quarter of 2006, existing TomTom customers will be able to purchase the latest maps at a discount. Each map package also includes free updates to the TomTom software." |

so no updates for v5 without an update to v6??????????
also the beginning of the 3rd quarter of 2006 was 1st July............
so this is well out of date. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Out of date maybe but it doesn't actually state it is necessary to update to Nav 6 to use the latest maps.
It mentions a "new map update program" for "existing customers" - so we live in hope! |

Sorry should have been clearer.
It looks from replies posted on here and when I called tomtom to ask about updates that it is unlikely that any reduced priced upgrades will be available.
I phoned them to confirm what I'd read and got the same response - no upgrade pricing - so I think as it stands this is out of date and I really don't think they will offer newer maps on nav 5.
I'll wait and see and hope they offer the maps and/or upgrade pricing - but at the minute they're pricing it to make the GO range look like a better bet (at leat to me who needs a new bt gps and car mount in the near future) _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Hi Eldar
A ten pound bet? As you are a Pocket GPS Moderator I’m sure that you know far more than I. I therefore have to decline your offer of a gamble and bow to your superior knowledge.
I will stay with TT5 and wait to see what transpires. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I take that to mean you will need to upgrade to version 6 to be able to use the new maps. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

I agree that it is likely but it is not actually stated. Until it is, I live in hope. |
