|

Hi,
Does anyone know if Tesco Mobile is compatible with TomTom Traffic? When I first setup Traffic on my One the settings for Tesco don't automatically come up. So I have to enter them manually, but that doesn't work.
Perhaps Tesco aren't a true GPRS provider, i.e. they only provide WAP over GPRS rather then data? |

Tesco Mobile does not support TomTom Plus, neither does T-Mobile (not at July 2006). |

I think T-Mobile might, as the tomtom site gives manual settings for connecting to T-Mobile via GPRS:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3326
(bottom of the page)
Mind you, there are also settings there for THREE, but THREE say that it can't be done. _________________ Regards

I had a T-Mobile contract but couldn't get my TomTom to work with the Plus service. I took my phone and TomTom to Carphone Warehouse but none of the staff could get it to work either. They telephoned T-Mobile but T-Mobile wouldn't give out the settings required. I understand T-Mobile are pushing another PND and offered to supply their device. I have since taken out a contract with Vodafone and have no problem. |

I have had no problem with T-mobile and a Rider. Link up was automatic and has given no problems. You need to make sure that your contract includes a GPRS service. I have the Flext service and GPRS was extra. |

That's a shame it won't work with Tesco Mobile. Would have been nice to have working especially as the Traffic option is I think fairly reasonably priced. I won't be changing my mobile provider as Tesco Mobile PAYG for me work out to be cheaper then anyone else I've seen. So I guess the radio will do for now. |

Hello Mike
Thanks for your email about using your TomTom plus on our network.
I'm sorry you've had problems configuring this device, and for the time you've spent attempting to do so.
Unfortunately, we don't support the TomTom on our network, and this is why the Carphone Warehouse employee was unable to get the information he needed from our technical team.
You can access full support for your TomTom on their website, by clicking on this link http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Lid=1
I'm sorry you feel that T-Mobile have not offered you enough support on this matter, but unfortunately our advisors can only give technical advice for devices they are familiar with, and have received training on.
If you were to contact us for help with a device that is supported on our network, I have no doubt that you'd get all the help and advice you needed to get things up and running.
Thanks again for taking the time to email me about this Mike, and again, I'm sorry we weren't able to help you more.
If there's anything else you'd like to discuss, please reply to this email or contact us through our website. |

What a typical BS answer from T-Mobile. It matters not what device you are using, all they need know is you want the GPRS APN settings to access GPRS Internet on their network!
I have a colleague using a T-Mobile MDA Vario and he can access PLUS Services via his 910. _________________ Darren Griffin |
