|
|
My girlfriend has a Palm Zire 71 PDA, and I'm trying to find out if there is a GPS solution for it? I understand that not all Palm compatible software and hardware will work with the Zire 71, but is there any that does? Does anyone have a set-up like this?
Thanks,
IanB. |

TBH I would very much doubt it, looking at a couple of reviews the Zire only has 2mb of ram and a 16Mhz Dragonball processor unless I'm mistaken.
Sorry! |

Zire is a budget mono Palm. I think you are mistaken with this one.
Zire 71 (16MB I think) is a full spec color Palm and use the same universal connector other Palm use.
So hardware, or GPS hardware for Palm M5xx cxan be use with Zire 71.
The only compatibility issue will be software that is not compatible with different OS (4.x and 5.x). _________________ Pc-Mobile

Several of the reviews I looked at when I searched for Zire 71 did state the Zire as a Palm M150, but it maybe that these reviews have mixed up Palm handhelds. Just found the Zire 71 on Palm's site and it does show it as a 16mb Palm OS 5.2.1.
In which case any software like TomTom CityMaps or Mapopolis will probably work. There are also software from Michelin called Kirrio (we haven't tested it), but it looks promising.
Kirrio GPS
Some software won't work with Palm OS 5, so you will need to shop around to find out which does. Certainly TomTom CityMaps says it supports the Zire but not which model number though. |

Thanks for the info, looks like I should be able to get something!
As for the different software available, I've noticed many options do not cover Ireland, and this is pretty vital for us. Does anyone know which package has the best Ireland coverage?
