hi
can anyone please help, i am looking to buy either the navman 520 or 570. I have enquired at numerous outlets and keep getting different answers.

what i want to know does either of these models enable you to get to a destination by entering the postcode.

also when I have downloaded the safety camera database, do i need to programme a route into the unit before it will give me any sort of indication that I am approaching a camera or is there a facitilty on the unit to just pick up cameras when approaching with no route programmed in as in my job i am in and out the car on numerous occasions during the day and find it would be a pain having to keep typing in destinations.

many thanks
BJ

Hi bj
I have a 520 and yes you can plan a route using a post code, the first four figures anyway, it will take you to the area you can then select street and house number. I have downloaded the speed cams and set alert on and I get an alert at wahtever distance I have set the alert for.

A slight correction from the above post. SmartST2005 will accept upto five postcode characters.

That's OK, I often plead stupidity. :D I do hope that Navman are working on full 7 character postcodes, though. I had a complaint via email once, as I'd pointed out before the 'upto five characters' thing. The complainant said I was wrong as he couldn't put in something like B1 2JP!

No, for SmartST purposes, it is only five, just as RH10 1RS is seven.

I bought software of ebay that has converted my 520 to seven digits, works great and only cost £1.99.

Regards Tom.
