Hi,

I am uncertain whether I need an update or not when I check my version number it comes up as: 6.0.7.36

On the alk website it lists the updates for live 6 as: 6.0.1.22

How is my installed version number higher than the latest update on the website?

Confused... Sad

Yes, this is similar to a weird problem I've had while trying to get TTS working. I got the software with a Vario 2, with the CD's and a pre-loaded SD card for the phone. This installed version 6.0.7.something on the PPC, but TTS was not working. I contacted ALK support and they suggested copying the tts files from a data download off the desktop.

This didn't work so I re-installed the whole lot on the desktop and PPC, and got version 6.0.4.(something). This still didn't work so I downloaded the latest update from the ALK site which is version 6.0.4.110, a lower version that the installed 6.0.4.**.

TTS does now work, but unless I've soft-rest the PPC before starting it I get an error message saying that there's a problem with the TTS engine, and it defaults to WAV voices.

I'm intrigued by the version numbers though......

When I orderd the Orbit it came with 2 boxes, 1 was the phone and the other was CoPilot Live 6 for the O2 Xda Orbit.

In the Copilot box was a micro sd memory card which I stuck in my Orbit that's the version I have installed.

I don't want to install an update off the alk site as it looks like a downdate to me (lower version on their site to the one I have).

It would be nice to see what versions everyone has on their devices, perhaps the version numbers relate to the phone/provider. i.e. v.x on a t-mobile mda iii, v.xx on an o2 orbit etc...

Post up your serial numbers, model of phone and phone service provider everyone let's see what versions are out there.

My Phone: O2 Xda Orbit, CoPilot Live 6 micro sd, Version 6.0.7.36

While not really answering the question, I do know that the CoPilot PPC and Desktop applications do not always have the same version number - in fact quite often they do not. A differrence does not necessariy mean that one of them is out of date.

To confuse matters even more, version for PPC's and those for phones are also often different, as are those for different locations - there have even been significant functional differences between the US and UK versions of the software.

If that is not enough - some 'all-in-one' devices (ie combining PDA and Mobile Phone) need the phone version - others require the PPC version, so unless the person asking the question knows exactly what they are using (and should be using) and which location of the software (ie UK or US), and that they have only applied the patches for the appropriate source of the software, there is little chance of them being able to get (unless by luck) a correct answer to their problem. However, if they do know all the detail I have listed (which is not exhaustive), they probably know enough about the product not to need to ask it in the first place!
