Altina GBT-709 and satellite locking (In think!!!)

Hi,

I'd be grateful if anyone has any info on the following. I'm living in St. John's newfoundland at the minute and just bought an Altina GBT-709 bluetooth GPS unit.

It seems to work........ just. It only ever picks up 4 satellites (normally 3) and takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes searching before getting a lock.

I'm not sure if it is the unit or where I am located. Knowing nothing about satellite positioning, I was wondering if the fact that I am in St John's, which is the furthest east you can go on the North American / Canadian continental land mass had something to do with it. Maybe there is only a limited satellite coverage.

Any help / advice greatly appreciated.
