Mapsource, unlocking etc...

I have done lots of reading on these forums, but I still don't understand this mapsource thing. I see it mentioned plenty of times though. What actually IS mapsource, and what does it do? Also, I used a code off the yellow piece of paper in my Garmin's box to "unlock" uk and ireland maps on Garmins website.. what exactly did this do?

Hi, If you put "Mapsource" in the search box,(click on search at the top of the page) you will find loads of answers to your question, here's just one of them.

Basicly its a way to download maps onto your device, when you don't have room for everything. If you are going on holiday, just download a map, and away you go.

can anyone please help me?, my i3 has lost the "navigate" option in the scrolldown from "where to"; on aforum i saw the advise to press and hold the three buttons from L to R so that it would re-boot ,idid this but now its saying map data must be installed, and i cant find /remember having apiece of paper with the unlock code on .I`d be grateful for any advice ,thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Contact Garmin Tech Support. They're usually very helpful, and have reinstated the maps for others who've lost or overwritten them.
