Have you had a read of this -
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=34829 and more specifically this -

Quote:
Q. I've paid using PayPal. Why am I not a Member yet?

A. When you make a payment through PayPal that is funded by Instant Bank Transfer (the vast majority of transactions) we receive your payment and you become a Member immediately.

If you are an existing PayPal customer and do not elect to pay by credit card you therefore elect to pay by a transfer from an existing PayPal account - this transfer takes the form of a virtual cheque, called an eCheque.

All those that are able to use a credit card get instant access.

The rule of thumb is, if you have used PayPal and haven't paid by credit card then you have paid by eCheque.

If you used eCheque we would not have received your payment immediately. Funds will only be received once cleared through the banking system. As soon as payment clears (usually up to 8 working days, but sometimes longer - we have had reports of up to 14 days clearance) you will receive your membership details automatically.

We do mention it on the payment page, but in amongst all the other information, understandably, it can be missed.

Your 1st email subject line from PayPal will read 'Receipt for Your Payment to PocketGPSWorld.com Ltd' whereas the 2nd email will read 'eCheque Payment Complete'.

Well i've read it now you've pointed in out. Had i have read everything on the site, i'd have to give up work and i'd still be reading it now!

What a mess this site is!

I have downloaded a database in the past when i first got my Navman and the database was free.

From looking at the site, i think someone has gone a bit crazy!!

After reading the other posts, i can see i'm not the only one who thinks this.

Why not just have one site purely for the database, which i imagine is what most people want, and a seperate site for all the other stuff? If people want all the others stuff that badly, i'm sure they will follow a link to get it!

And a quick tip. The website needs to be consitant. There are links that are underlined, and some that are not, and there are headings and titles underlined using the same font that are not links.

Also, a log in/log out button on the FIRST page would be a huge help. If there is already one there and i've missed it, i rest my case about how unclear the site is.

Thanks for letting me know about the Paypal sign-up.

Gary

On the left of every page there is a Members Area box and a Speed Cameras box. These are all Links to the relevant Text.

When used in Postings all Links come up as Red and Underlined. Links in the Page Base change colour as you hover the mouse over them.

It depends how you enter the site in the First instance. I personally use http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums as I am then able to Login straight away.

If you use http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ just click Forums at the top of the Page.

Because the site caters for so many flavours of Navigators it, by nature, tends to be a bit unwieldy at times. After a couple of trips you get the hang of it. Just like driving really.;)

After reading the other posts, i can see i'm not the only one who thinks this.

But you must remember that it's only those having difficulties who post, while those who experience no problems don't usually post.

You may be interested to read this quote from Robert Brady, one of the Pocket GPS Team:

I'm very happy to report that we have delivered 10's of 1000's of absolutely seamless downloads Smile . . .

It is indeed a perennial problem that many new visitors assume by reading about the frustration of a tiny minority (and we are talking about something like one in a thousand here, if that!) that few manage the download without encountering problems. That is simply not the case.
