Hi all,

My parents are after a GPS system, and I recommended one of the Tom Tom units (Tom Tom One or 510). I don't want a PDA running sat nav, as it needs to be as simple to operate as possible (parents remember!) and they don't need any other features.

Having thought they had settles on the Tom Tom, I then get a message about the Via Michelin from them. I have to admit to knowing nothing about this, and from what I can see there is only 1 all in one system, the X930.

What are peoples thoughts on the Via Michelin compared to Tom Tom. I have seen one review that rated the Via Michelin X930 as 2/10. Stating it was uslesss at locating addresses, usless POI system and a few other things.
Do others agree Tom Tom wins for ease of use and reliability ? I use Tom Tom 5 on my PDA and never had a problem.
The advantage of the X930 is it can be bought for £149, but I still can't see it's worth it over a Tom Tom device. Just need some more thoughts on it please Smile
Also, seems difficult to find what maps come with the X930. Is it just the UK ? seems like maps are expensive on the Via Michelin site, 129 Euros for France compared to Tom Tom's 59 Euros.

Any input appreciated.

Put it this way ..... from what I have read not many people have much good to say about Via Michelin. Try doing a search of the forums to see.

It appears Tom Tom is much easier to use, there are many more maps than Via Michelin, and, as you have found out, they are cheaper. Other than that .....

If you want something simple to use that maintains a lot of the great features, the TomTom is the way to go. The 510 is very easy to use and still has a lot of the bells and whistles.
