Hi all,

Tried to be clever today and add some spanish maps to my i3. Sadly, all I've managed to do is make it so that when I start the unit it says I should the pc to plan routes. (I was adding the maps via mapsource 8)

Any help to get the original maps back would be appreciated.

Cheers

if you have tried to copy the new mapping onto the original card then you have lost the uk maps...

.... but if you ask Garmin support very nicely, they might reprogram the card for you at no extra charge. That's what they did for me (I was so relieved) and at least one other person on these boards. :D

I think this is what I've done too.

I put some maps onto the card and now nothing works, the i3 shows a message asking me to use the install CD, which I don't have.

Are the UK maps supplied on the transflash or are they hard coded into the machine?

depends if yours came with a card or not...if it came with a card then the mapping is on the card...if no card then its loade on the i3 itself...(sorry, a bit obvious)

It looks like you will have to contact garmin and plead insanity and hopefully they will sort it out for you under G'tee(as done with others before you)

if you have a copy of this with unlock codes then you can still use it but I would suggest either you return the unit for an exchange and then buy a new transflash card to put City selct on or return unit to Garmin and again buy a spare transflash card.

But whatever you do make sure you back up your main Map card to your hard drive so that you can restore it if this ever happens again. you can restore it but only to the original card!
