I have been using a generic GPS receiver (eBay, of course) which has worked perfectly with various software packages including Tom-Tom. It has a cable connector for the multisync socket on my XDA II.

I would like to use this receiver with a Motion tablet, which I presume would need a USB input from the receiver- but can I get a converter for the XDA fitment? Or is there any other way of converting?

Thanks for any thoughts or assistance

This is what you have to consider:

1. you need a suitable serial connector for your GPS, which should come from your GPS manufacturer.
2. then you need a USB to serial converter for your Ttablet, and more importantly, a suitable driver for the OS, which I doubt you will get.

Either one is almost impossible.

Therfore, unless your tablet is windows which may be easier, I would advise you to ditch the idea and look for other solution.

Thanks for the news - even if it is bad!

Actually my tablet is a Motion M1400 running XP for tablet - but I suspected all along I would need a matching receiver. I'll keep an eye on eBay.

But any guidance on running gps on a tablet would be welcome!
