Had a look at the Warner site. Don't you have to purchase the software to register or have I read it wrong?
Yes, the software costs 30 euros. I've not used it yet for obvious reasons but from the reviews and user comments that seems pretty good value.

But it says that it only works for Miomap v1 and v2?

rant

Before everyone gets too excited by this, I had the same email from POI Handler around a month ago. They basically asked me to ask Mio if they would let them have the database structure and format for the units. I got the feeling when I spoke to the jerks on their Premium Rate line, that they were not willing to have anyone muck about with the Mio's files and were unwilling to give anyone any cooperation with adding 3rd party software to 'their' units.

I then got an email from (ta-da) Mio Support and they said that it was not possible to edit the database (either speed cam or POI) because of the 'operating system constraints'.

I have no idea what that means.

Anyway, lets hope some one does it eventually but I don't think they're going to get any help from Mitac though.

Hey everybody!
After I (navigating.de support) felt like under massive spam assault by some of the forum's members I'd like to post an answer about your little Mio-problem (which I share) in order to stop any rumors:

The only thing the message from my colleague indicates is that there are negotiations about POI-Warner for MioMap CE V3.
We plan to support MioMap CE V3 but can't annouce a date as MioMap CE V3 also needs some changes in order to make a version of POI-Warner possible at all.

As you probably know MioMap 1 and 2 contain Navigon software and V3 contains iGo so we have nothing to build upon.
We will keep you up to date as soon as there is anything one might call manifest news.

Best wishes and happy wating,
Rob

I hope you don't mean us!Twisted Evil

Well if you do so:

We'll rather answer a mail when it arrives one time than when it arrives 7 times as this causes confusion.
However, we answer every mail within 24 hours, now in holiday season you should give us up to 50.

Thanks for the info Rob!

If you can get this to work, there will be a lot of happy people on this forum.:D

Waiting in anticipation,

Ron

Rob, for an exciting 3 seconds I thought that you were from Mitac/Mio!!
The 'Jerk' comment is strictly for Mitac/ Mio support dept and I'm sure that it's pretty much the way that every Mio owner in this forum feels.
You guys at POIWarner do a great job but without Mitac's co-operation your hands are tied. I'm sure that everyone understands that.

Just to make myself clear, comments aimed squarely at Mitac/Mio and no-one else.

Shame you weren't from Mitac though. It would have been fun!!

They wouldn't dare show their face around here!
I'd stake my house on that.

I'm sorry if you have received an unhappy response in this forum but as you can see there are are lot of people who have bought an excellent product and are then disappointed by poor support.
It would be very helpful if you could look at the thread that I started here: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=43490
and answer some of the points in my post.
But I have another question:
I understand that there is a new version 3.2 of iGO software. Can you tell us please when this will be available in Miomap, and will there be an upgrade for existing users?
Thank you very much!

Sal,

Elorfin / Rob is from navigating.de (POIWarner), not Mitac / Mio (unfortunately).

Right. Thanks for the explanation!
navigating.de always answer their emails, unlike Mitac.
I had thought for a minute that we were actually getting some support. Oh well...

A friend has passed me an email that he has just received from navigating.de which confirms that they are going to release POI-Warner for our Mio units:

You will get an notification when the
POI-Warner for the Mio Map CE 3 is available.
We will mail you then and maybe you can tell it your friends if you want this.
******

This will allow us to import the PGPSW camera database, and other POI's such as the ones on POI Handler. I'll post here as soon as I hear more, in the meantime I'm going to suspend any further work on my own utility to do the same job.

Here's a link to the POI Warner site:

Just had a thought. If POIhandler is able to make the warner 3 compatible with the Mio C510 or C710. How will we be able to remove the existing camera database from our units. 8O

MioMap has an option to switch off cameras, which I presume will not affect POIWarner's own operation.

In any case, it's a simple matter to delete Mio's own camera database using bluetooth.

Hi, I have the North American version of the C710, and it comes loaded with an older version of MioMap (v1.2 or something like that I believe). I was wondering if it's possible to install the newer MioMap v3, and use the North American maps with it?

And if so, where can I download MioMap v3?

AFAIK it is only available with the device. You would have to contact Mitac (but if you can get an answer from them, you're doing better than anyone here - their support is lousy).
