Hi.

Is there a way to download the camera files from a command-line?

I'm getting a bit bored with the manual download/unzip/copy process and I'd like to script it so that I can just double-click on an icon and have my TomTom 910 update automatically. Unfortunately I'm stuck at the download stage.

I've been trying to use CURL.EXE with a command-line such as:

Code:

curl --u myuid:mypass http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/downloadcameras.php?idPackage=2

but I'm not getting anywhere.

Of course what I'd really like is an icon on my TomTom that did the download while I'm on the move (like TomTom's own speed camera service), but one step at a time Smile .

Thanks in advance (and apologies if this has been covered before),

Andy

Or even better would be an updated version of POIEdit. In the old days, before paments, I could just plug my device in and POI Edit would fire up, immediately check if the camera database had been updated and if it had download and install it.

Now that is how the database should work, then 99% of these "help I can't install" queries would stop and we would not have to spend ages explaining to computer novices how to unzip a zip file.

Ages ago we were promised it would be updated. Come on guys ....... when? please?

Agreed - POIEdit would be a better solution, if it worked.

Ultimately I'd like to be able to do my synching on the road, rather than when my device is attached to my PC (I always seem to have got to the end of the road when I remember I haven't updated for a couple of months).

As I said, TomTom's own Speed Camera functionality lets you do this. If their camera database was a bit better that would be the best solution.

How about buildig synching into POICapture?
