Hands-free phone calls via TT Go 500

I've just bought a Go 500, an upgrade from a 300.

The big advantage of course is that I can now use my phone in hands-free mode via the tomtom. Its very good, saves wearing my bluetooth earpiece. Also, on the Go 300 there used to be a conflict, whereby when the bluetooth earpiece was connected to the phone, the TT couldn't connect. And vice versa - it was as if there could only be one bluetooth channel active with my phone, and so only the tomtom or the earpiece could be connected.

I have two questions. (1) Is it possible to alter just the volume of the phone conversation? On 5.44 it was, there was a separate volume up/down button under 'phone' when a call was in progress. On 6.14 there isn't, and using the volume slider alters the warning sound volume, plus the slider is hard to use when driving whereas an up/down button was ok.

(2) Has anyone tried the external microphone? is it reallymuch better than the in-built microphone on the tomtom mounting?
