Mapsource and the likes.

Hi there ... I'm quite new to this so bear with me please.

My question is regarding a Garmin Streetpilot C310. (But there's a little bit of history before that ..)

A few months ago I purchased a Garmin Extrex Legend for use whilst out walking. Along with it I also got Mapsource and several of the Mapsource products - these include Mapsource USA TOPO and Also Europ Metroguide.

I have successfully used both of these and on a recent trip to the states, found the USA maps excellent as I could mark waypoints, etc.

Now my question ... Is there anyway that i can use either of these products on my Streetpilot C310 ? I am hoping to visit Italy / France later in the summer and would love to be able to use these maps. I appreciate that the routing will not be anywhere near as accurate as the UK - but I wondered if it was possible?

I have read issues about SD cards being 'copy proof' and wondered if this would be a problem uploading new maps?

yes you can use non-routing maps with any 'routing' garmin gps by using a program called img2gps.....do a search there are loads of threads on this..
